It does have a built in brief bottom and not full shorts so you get that secure coverage without extra bulk. I felt comfortable moving around, sitting, or walking on the beach.A couple of real talk things:The mesh overlay on the skirt is pretty see through when wet. Not a deal breaker for me since the brief underneath is opaque, but if you're super modest you might want to test it first.The fabric dries fairly quick and didn't feel heavy, but it's not the thickest material out there.Sizing felt true to the chart for me, but if you're between sizes I'd probably size up for more room in the skirt.Overall I like it enough that I'd wear it again this summer.
